Frequently Asked Questions

I am always happy to talk through any questions you have in our initial meeting, below are the most commonly asked questions couples have for me before setting an initial meeting!

How far in advance should we inquire for booking your services for our wedding?

Couples meet with me somewhere between 6-24 months before their wedding. Never hesitate to contact us, if we happen to have your date free a few months or weeks before your wedding, we’d be more than happy to work with you!

Do you provide engagement sessions?

An engagement session is treated separately from the wedding package and is $500 for an hour for my wedding clients, or $600 if I am not photographing your wedding. That includes an hour of photography at a location of your choosing, an online gallery, digital image enhancement of the final set of images, and high resolution files with no watermark to be used for save the dates, a guest book, your wedding website, or just to have professional photos of the two of you not in wedding attire!

Who owns the rights to the images?

Shane Godfrey Photography retains the copyright to all images shot on your wedding day. We provide each couple with a license to use the images however you may like, including prints and social media for your entire lifetime.

Do you use any AI for editing or culling images.

At this point I can't see giving over any of my post-production to another human let alone an AI! For me, the editing process is very important and is what really brings the whole collection of photographs together.

Are you comfortable with traditions that will take place at our ceremony?

I have been shooting weddings for 15 years and have seen a wide array of different wedding traditions throughout the years including Catholic, Jewish, Indian, Korean, Chinese, Christian, Cambodian, Greek Orthodox, and Vietnamese ceremonies. If we haven’t worked with your traditions before, we would be more than happy to learn more about them for your wedding day!

What would you consider your style of photography?

Our style is photojournalistic with a mix of both documentary and editorial style and approach. That being said, weddings call for a lot of different styles of photography and I don’t let my style get in the way of taking the photographs you would like on your day.

What is the usual turnaround time to view our wedding images?

I guarantee your online gallery will be up within four weeks of your wedding date at the very latest. Typically, your online gallery is usually up within a two to three weeks of your wedding. I will always let you know how long I think it will take on your wedding day and always keep you updated in the process.

Do we need to include a second shooter?

All my packages start with a second shooter included because it is important to have a second set of eyes on the day. I always work with the same second shooter for consistency and because my creative partner and I have developed a way of working together over the years!

Do you have liability insurance?

Yes! It is required by most venues for us to have insurance.

How many backup cameras do you have?

We bring many camera bodies to a wedding and always have a backup in case of technical malfunction.

How many backup cameras do you have?

We use all of the latest and greatest Canon gear. For all the camera nerds out there we use Canon R3 and R6 cameras, with L-series lenses. Oh and there is also the Wista 8×10 filed camera that we use as well!

What is the turn around time for albums?

Albums are ordered a la carte and can be ordered anytime after the wedding. I offer two sizes and both prices are outlined and guaranteed in your wedding contract for six months after your wedding date.

Do you shoot black and white and color?

We shoot everything in color and typically give duplicates in black and white to 20-30% of the images during post-processing.

How many years have you been in business?

I have been in business since I graduated art school in 2009 and I started photographing weddings before that!

How many pictures do you usually shoot, and how many do we receive?

We typically shoot multiple thousands of images during a wedding day. The number of photos we take depends on the amount of guests, the length of the day, and the amount of action going on during your wedding. From that, we edit down to about 800-1200 images and post process those final images and make them print ready for you to download!
